Observers of the natural world are often captivated by the iridescent feathers, dynamic flight and tameness of hummingbirds; but few are aware of their important role as plant pollinators. In this program, we will explore the different species of North American hummingbirds, their foraging habits and pollination of plants. The characteristics of preferred host flowers will be discussed with tips on landscaping and bird-feeding to attract hummingbirds in residential gardens. Join us for this program at the History Museum of Monroe County in the Allscheid-Metzger Gallery located at 724 Elaine Drive in Waterloo, IL.
