The “Pritzker Military Library”, the only military library in Illinois, is the second largest military library in North American and dedicated to the “Citizen Soldier”. The program will cover the why and how of a military library and how it is different from other libraries and museums and what is done differently in regard to genealogy, military history, veterans services and access to military information. A wide variety of services are available to the public including more than 70,000 volumes of military history. Mr. Downey has been affiliated with the Pritzker Military Library in Chicago as a lecturer, genealogy researcher, and veteran’s services representative since 2011. He also served with the U.S. Marine Corps in Vietnam 1969-1970.
