Route 66 – This phrase alone inspires images of road trips, classic cars, quirky roadside attractions, and Mom & Pop diners. Millions of people around the world have heard of Route 66 but how much do YOU actually know about it? This presentation will provide the history of Route 66 in Illinois and famous attractions along the way to inspire you to embark on your own Route 66 journey! Ms. Land is an architectural historian working for the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) and University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and diligently works to save Illinois’ historic resources from adverse effects of transportation projects, including Historic Route 66.
