By Sheryl Metzger, Rodney Linker and Bill Shaw of Luhr Bros., Inc.  The founders started out digging basements and after the flood of 1947, built the Valmeyer levee. River work came later. During more than 75 years of history interesting projects were completed and changes made in the way the work is done.
